What is Cyber Security
When you think about home security you can appreciate that you have multiple options to keep your house secure. You can have a simple lock on your front door, you can install a basic alarm system or if you have the budget, you could have security guards onsite, 24 hours a day.
In exactly the same way you can secure your IT systems. You can rely on the inbuilt security features that come with the applications you use, for example the operating systems built in anti-virus software, you can install security appliances and applications, right up to having someone watch over your network systems 24 hours a day.
Cyber security itself is defined as the practice of protecting your network, servers, computers, backup devices, mobile devices and your data from unauthorised access and/or malicious damage.
When thinking about Cyber Security you need to consider:
- Physical Restrictions
- Application security
- Information security
- Operational security
- Disaster recovery and business continuity
- End-user Security education
In Deycom our main goal is to secure your IT infrastructure and to introduce as many layers of protection as we can. We have less control over other elements such as who has physical access to your computer equipment.
To help you our clients with their Cyber Security we have complied a Cyber Security Checklist which you can use to carry out your own internal Cyber Security review. For a free copy please call sales on 059 9130777 or email info@deycom.com
